Masters in Social Work

Vidyasagar School of Social Work conducts 2 year full time Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) under the Vidyasagar University. Additionally the course is also recognized under Section 2(f) of UGC Act. Over the years, the MSW course of VSSW has emerged as a much sought after course in the field of professional social work. The placement record of the Institute has been excellent and every year all the students are absorbed in various Government departments, reputed NGOs, funding organizations, micro-finance institutions and other organizations. The placement cell of the Institute actively monitors the placement of the subsequent job opportunities even after passing out of the Institution.

The programme of the MSW fifteen theoretical papers, field work, viva voce and and project report. The entire curriculum has been designed in a way to promote integration of theory and practice in the field of social welfare and social policy.

Eligibility & Selection in MSW

2 years Full time (4 Semesters) Eligibility-
(i) Honours in any subject OR Graduate with 45% marks
Or
(ii) Deputed (Govt./NGO) Candidate with 40% marks in Graduation under 10+2+3 system

One third of the total seats are reserved for the students of Vidyasagar University. 15% of the seats are booked for SC and 7.5% of the seats are booked for ST candidates provided they fulfill the eligibility and selection requirements. 5 seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by various state departments. However the seats may be filled up by General Candidates if the reserved quota remains unfulfilled.
